My best kite-surfing session so far. I was a little apprehensive to start with as the wind was gusting to 18 knots and I was the only one out. Shem had said he'd be there in a hour though, so I decided to give it a go anyway.

I set my kite up a little differently to usual, basically I shortened the front lines by a inch or so and lengthened the back lines by an inch or so, which depowered the kite a little and actually meant that the kite did power-up when I 'sheeted in' on the bar. Not much, but better than it was before... I think I need a nice sunny day so that I can play with the line lengths and fine-tune it.

I got straight out on the water and soon got comfortable in the strongish winds and managed to muscle my way out through the whitewater. Once out the back I was able to relax a little and enjoy crusing up and down amongst the shoulder high swells. I went for a few jumps, but my landings left a lot to be desired. I also messed around sliding the board around and carving onto the faces of the swells. After a while I realised that I was quite a way out, and was getting tired as I'd been out for quite a while, so headed back downwind to the beach. I was about to get out and pack up when I saw Shem on the beach, so decided to stay out a little longer and muscled my way back out through the whitewater.

Shem came out and had a little trouble getting to grips with the waves after having had so many flat-water sessions in the estuary. I eventually gave up and headed back to the beach, just as Shem got his act togther and got out the back.

I packed up then, and Shem decied that he was a little too overpowered and it was too much like hard-work out there, so packed up also.

All in all a good session and I was pleased to have done so well given the conditions.... Cool!!! :)
